Stag is now a modern name used to describe a Bachelor, or a Stag Party.
A Stag Party is a party held before the Bachelor or Stag enters marriage.

The history of Stag party is thought to have originated with a Stag dinner that was traditional in ancient Sparta (5th century) where soldiers would toast each other on the eve of a friend’s wedding.
